Insecure’s Issa Rae celebrate Golden Globe nod

Insecure’s Issa Rae has one thing to be confident about this morning: her Golden Globe nomination. And, just like her character on the show, she shared her big moment with her on-screen bestie, Yvonne Orji.

Following the Golden Globes announcement, Orji posted a series of FaceTime screenshots from a lively early-morning conversation she had with the series co-creator and lead actress, whom the Hollywood Foreign Press Association nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy category Monday morning.

In the photos, Rae looks ecstatic, grinning wide and throwing her head back as a grinning Orji looks on.

“That time @issarae got nominated for a @goldenglobes and I FaceTimed her at the butt-crack of dawn and went through all the emotions of pure excitement in our matching headscarves!” Orji, who plays Molly on the HBO comedy, captioned her photo.

Orji also wrote a series of comical hashtags on the post, including “#SheReallyDidWakeUpLikeThis” and “#ThatsThatGoldenGlobesGlow.”

Insecure, partially inspired by Rae’s web-based comedy series Awkward Black Girl, premiered on the network in October, and ran for eight episodes. On Nov. 14, HBO renewed the series for an additional 10-episode second season.
