KENDRICK LAMAR LANDS NO. 1 SPOT ON BILLBOARD

Wins keep on piling up for TDE artist Kendrick Lamar. In less than a month’s time, he’s won five Grammy Awards for To Pimp a Butterfly, unleashed a project titled Untitled Unmastered., and has now landed a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with 178,000 units sold.

K.Dot’s newest effort was released on March 3 with little notice. A fan was able to grab a screenshot of the album within minutes of it being posted and queued on Spotify. As hours passed by, and the anticipation grew, many thought back to the hints dropped by Top Dawg Entertainment’s CEO. “I’ve decided 2 drop a project 1 day this week,” wrote Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith on Instagram. With Kendrick Lamar still riding high off of his 2015 LP, no one expected an album from him.

There’s a chance that Kendrick Lamar will hold Billboard’s top spot for another week. Physical copies and vinyls of Untitled Unmastered. landed in stores last week.

TDE is looking to have a huge run in 2016. SZA, Isaiah Rashad, ScHoolboy Q, and the majority of the label’s roster are expected to release albums this year.

If you haven’t listened to Untitled Unmastered. yet, get caught up on Spotify now.
