Tidal Terminates CFO And COO, Move Offices To New York
There are two vacant positions within Tidal’s top-tier sector right now, The Vergereports. The streaming site reportedly terminated its COO Nils Juell, and CFO Chris Hart. This news arrives days after headlines announced that other companies like Google, Spotify and Samsung, were planning to purchase the music outlet.
The reason for the firing stemmed from a conflict with Tidal’s process of sharing its streaming data, the site outlines. The company reportedly prohibits sharing the aforementioned information with Nielsen Music. This practice fails to allow albums or singles to land on charts like Billboard’s lists, pointing to Rihanna’s ANTI album and Kanye West’s recent project The Life Of Pablo as examples. West also noted that his album will solely be available on Tidal, declining to put it up for purchase on iTunes or featuring it on streaming sites like Spotify or Pandora.
In addition to this development, plans have also surfaced to move a couple of Tidal’s offices from Olso, Norway to New York. The accounting and operations divisions will land in the Big Apple in the near future, while the tech outlet will remain on home base.
Earlier this week, Tidal fell into more legal trouble after Yesh Music Publishing and member of American Dollar, John Emanuele, sued Jay Z and the company for $5 million in unpaid royalties. Developments on the matter are still forthcoming.
